Suddenly it's hard to find a journal that actually works. LJ keeps fucking off, xanga-style (as I type, there's that Warning above the text box that tells you it's in read-only mode and maybe will post your entry if it feels like it).

Though I'm not thrilled about the format I think I'm going to wean off LJ and glean from (of all places) Friendster's blog, which involves people I know in real life who I think I've been subconsciously (no, consciously) hiding my {writing [/(self)]} from all these years. A real-life friend shared her blog with me and I think that was the nudge I needed out of this little bubble I've cultivated all too lovingly.

So, paraphrasing the long-gone secrethistoryx: There comes a time in a boy's life when he realizes he doesn't need imaginary friends anymore. If you know of my other blogs, see you there. I'll be using this SN to post comments, probably, so keep up all the good living.

It was nice imagining you.

Western tragedy opens with a troubled and apprehensive watchman on the roof of the palace of King Agamemnon, watching and waiting for news and signals concerning the outcome of the Greek war against Troy. He conveys a sense of unease and disquiet. Something, which he dare not, or will not, or cannot, articulate is wrong within the palace. It is nighttime and and the atmosphere is ominous, full of dubiety and an incipient sense of festering secrets. The long drama of the Oresteia has begun.

Some two thousand years later, Hamlet will open in very much the same way. The similarity betokens no indebtedness of Shakespeare to Aeschylus (whose work he could not have known), but rather a profound similarity of apprehension as to what might constitute a source for tragic drama.

Shakespeare does not start where Aeschylus left off: he starts where Aeschylus started.

Sophy Viner had cried out to her: 'Some day you'll know!' and Darrow had used the same words. They meant, she supposed, that when she had explored the intricacies and darknesses of her own heart her judgment of others would be less absolute. -- Edith Wharton, The Reef

I bought something on eBay last Monday, received a USPS tracking number that did not work, sent an email asking to let me know when they were shipping it but never received one, but received it Friday -- but had to pay $5 postage due even though I already paid $20 for shipping. Am thrilled to death by flesh-eating zombie that I have it now. Do I leave positive, neutral or negative feedback? Have already consulted Song of Solomon.

Who are you who pass through libraryofbabble without ever posting?

You will notice this entry is so much better than others you've read. That's because I have lots of Europeans (more specifically, Brits) on my friends list.

Das' rite, I'm givin' you lotsa Hot Sex, Vanilla Ice's latest release (2003).

I know what you're thinking, and you're right -- that is Britney Spears. On Hot Sex there's a crazy ass track about her teaching Ice how to shop for capri pants.

Or, more accurately, a picture meme.

Not only is this meme colorful and involves no reading (for once, whew!), but. . . oh, like you need more reasons to do it!

I'm trying to get all my Livejournal friends' locations plotted on a map - please add your location starting with this form.

D'oh. It's not Bombay, it's Mumbai. Keep it real, LJ memers.

In the past people have accused me of having a god complex, so finally I backed up my sloshed-with-power egomaniacal terrorizing by creating [ear drum roll, please]:

libraryofbabble

Seriously, it should be interesting. The deal is: you post something, as well as your translation of it (into any language) -- and other members offer suggestions/translations of it into another language. And so on.

Any comments, leave 'em here~

You are not a Hummel figurine at all A Hummel figurine is an inanimate object that sits on a shelf or mantlepiece. You are not.
What kind of Hummel figurine are you?

Opening up like this is so difficult for me. I'm exhausted right now; and yet I feel so alive. So very alive.

But I can't tell you which kitty litter I am. Not yet. That's just too personal.
